Good Post

I think it was Eve Pollard on Grumpy Old Women who said that the only good sort of postal delivery is one that thuds onto the mat with the arrival of at least one decent catalogue.

And oh is she right and yesterday not one, but three (!) arrived for me, as well as a long-awaited new cookery book. There's never a more exciting post than when the autumn catalogues arrive if you ask me - yippee!

So I did what any self-respecting woman would do with the chance of a little bit of time to herself;
... curled up in my pyjamas with a cup of coffee and whiled away at least half an hour umming and ahhing over things I can't afford, turning over the corner of favourite gorgeous pages (do we all do this?) and savouring the delights of Autumn to come within, like...

*** chunky knitwear
*** a good bit of fair isle
*** log fires and a garden bonfire

*** fingerless mittens

*** hearty casseroles

*** cashmere socks (definitely can't afford those!)

*** homemade chutney

*** pumpkin soup

*** turning the lamps on earlier

*** harvest festival

*** enormous scarves and all that sort of deliciousness!

Oh I absoloutely agree! Autumn catalogues are the best!
I am beginning to wonder how far out of favour I have fallen with CK as yours is not the first reference to the new catalogue and mine is nowhere to be seen, boohoo! Never mind, like you I shall be turning over corners and planning how to spend my lottery winnings!

Oh Steph, lucky lucky you!!!

I've given up, I never get a CK catalogue anymore. I'm starting to think it's a case of the more I spend, the less I get! I really cannot look forward to Autumn yet, I'm too much of a Summer lover. The Joules fair isle is quite exciting though, I agree!

I was looking for some Fair Isle in my local charity shops just yesterday - didn't find any though :-(. Isn't the nights getting darker already , Autumn is a coming..

(Thanks for visiting me at mine! x I think you're right about the CK customer service - had problems before but keep going back for those irresistible florals! )

I haven't had the Cath Kidston one yet.. there's something to look forward to! The Joules one is beautiful though, and I've already written a MASSIVE christmas list.. here's hoping!

I've not had my CK catalogue either, so have just go on to the website and ordered another one...
Fingers crossed!

I started writing my Christmas list just this evening. Is it a bit soon? But I do love Christmas; and autumn too!

Must go searching the web for catalogues I can sign up for...

No cath here either however I have eyeballed a few treats online!! Not the same as the eye candy on the pages.
Have to say I was not overly enamoured with a lot of the joules AW collection - 1 dress?? But have got my eyes on the fingerless mittens...even if my 11 year old says they are socks!!

Ah yes! That sounds like a nice peaceful time to me. Here we are already seeing the change towards fall, and the weather man said we should have a few cool nights next week. Not the normal thing we see here in the south, but I'll take it!

I love your Autumn List Steph...agree with it all and are looking forward now to getting the fire lit on the odd chilly evening! I have a big reading pile developed over this summer, which I hope I will be able to finish when I have less to do in the garden.
The chunky knits are great.

Autumn - aarrrrhh. Bonfires and chestnuts, warm evenings followed by bright fresh mornings and all the harvesting - yum, my favourite time of the year.

Have a lovely day,

Hi Steph my CK hasn't plonked through my letterbox either. Some kind of plot do you think, only the chosen few get them?! Not that I can afford much usually and her clothes aren't made for anyone bigger than a stick! Still I can dream of being thinner and richer! Would love one of her bags. Dev x

Oh yes I agree. I love autumn catalogues and I love autumn generally. I think it must be because I have a September birthday. And I also do what you do turning down the corners of pages of things I love even though I can't afford anything! I'm still waiting for my Cath Magazine although I have had a look at it on her website. Love your list of autumn things by the way. Such a cosy time of year which definitely appeals to me.

I too love the socks, fingerless mits and scarves, oh yes and the fairisle....and loved the knitting references too! In fact i love it all, even though I am def a summer catalogue person.

Can I just say that your blog is such a delight, your summer round-up post made me smile a great deal, your life always looks so so so....pretty!!!

Happy days to you Steph, enjoy the remainder of Summer

No CK catalogue here either but was in her shop in Brighton yesterday and there was a pile on the counter and I nearly bought one but didn't as I thought mine would probably be waiting at home for me but it wasn't! We have the recipe book too and have made the fudge and apple cake - delicious. Have a lovely weekend. Karenx

Not wishing time away at all as sun and heat are lovely, but I do love autumn too Steph - all that cosiness. Fires, jumpers, hot soups and brisk walks through crunchy leaves.

I bought that recipe book recently too-isn't it great?! I think she has just had a second one published as well, so that may have to go on the wish list.

I haven't received my CK autumn catalogue yet, but then Australia is far, far away!
I purchased 100% cashmere socks at ALDI for only a few dollars recently and they are just beautiful and wash like you wouldn't believe. Do you have ALDI near by? Keep your eyes peeled for the socks if you do!

Haven't checked your blog in a while. How summer has flown by. I love this picture of jammies and magazine and coffee. Fall is coming. Summer is beautiful but fall is glorious. Glad I stopped by to see your thoughts. thanks as always. You should have your own magazine and be rich as Oprah!

I love to peruse catalogs as well! I have so many dog-eared pages, and I won't let my husband throw them away 'just in case.' And then I go sorting through them only to find that they're seasons old and none of the items are available anymore...

But I do love to look! :)

Lately I've been feeling that first faint chill in the early morning air that signifies autumn. Thanks for reminding me of all the good things we have to look forward to. Can I add "doing large jigsaws" and "coming home from a brisk Sunday afternoon walk to the smell of the beef daube that's been simmering since mid-morning"?
