The scent of paper white narcissi will forever remind me of an inspirational gardener. Such a sad day today to hear of her tragic passing. As a stranger there is little I can say but my heart is heavy and I shall miss her beautiful writing and the heart soaring beauty she revealed in the world around us. I hope her family may find peace and strength in how much she was clearly loved by gardeners everywhere.
Her obituary in The Daily Telegraph is a beautiful tribute.

Dear Steph, I don't know quite what to say. I found Elspeth Thompson's blog through yours in January. I hadn't known of her for very long but was touched - really touched by the short while I followed and from her past posts. I was shocked and really sad; so, I can't imagine how my other "friends" who knew her longer are feeling. I still don't know what to say.
I really, truly wish comfort - I don't know - yes, comfort and I wish all of you lovely people well !!!

I havn't heard of her but I shall read the obituary in the Telegraph.She sounded a wonderful,inspirational lady,who brought joy to so many people.

I was quite shocked at how upset i felt when i found this out yesterday. A lady i have never met but obviously deeply touched me with her blog and book.
I was thinking about her and her family all last night...it is so sad xx

A day has past and I thought that I'd tell you that I've thought about you here and there in the past week. I'm sure that you'll fill us in with your trip to town. I come from Pasadena, Caifornia which is in the greater Los Angeles area. It's a wonderful, beautiful city. I miss all the fun things to do but don't want to live there. I feel more at home in the country. Now, however, when I visit, it feels like going to Disneyland. I hope that you and your family had as much fun on your trip!

I was so shocked as well. I picked her weekend book up on Saturday for inspiration and then decided to check in on her blog as it had been a while. I did not expect to find out that she had died. So sad, she was very inspirational.
