Sweet Dreams - with any luck!

We've gone and bought the biggest bed in Britain.
On the website of the big blue and yellow shop the sizes of the bed we had our eyes on looked fine. And then when we actually stood there in the big blue and yellow shop and saw the one we wanted for half price, right by the tills, well we couldn't haul and shove all the bits and pieces into the car and whizz back up the motorway quickly enough to be honest.

But then after we'd put it together, popped the mattress on and realised that there are gaps either side of it in which the boys could very well go missing down, it dawned on us that we truly have bought the widest bed in the west.
It's huuuuuuuuuugggggggeeeee!
I'm completely in love with it though. The old wooden bed creaked and squeaked and had got so loud and rickety that poor Woody has taken to kipping on the living room floor being the light sleeper that he is. I can't believe that this gorgeous, immense new bed is ours!

Oh what thing of beauty it is! For years I've wanted a bed that I can drape an eiderdown over the end of and even though I'll have to spend the next few years shelling out for enormous sheets and a massive new mattress I don't really care. It's just lovely.
Sweet dreams to everyone, I might not get up tomorrow!

I like the way you draped mini-lights over the head board, sugar! Delightful. I'm going to put some up on the ceiling with the netting I have to make it more romantic. I love the draped netting over it and I'm sure hubby likes it also. ;-)

I think, like you I could write a whole entry on my bed...it is the best place in the world sometimes. So soft, warm, comforting...it is very very important to have a good bed - you spend such a huge chunk of your life in it. Yours looks beautiful and I think the bigger the better really - all the more room to invite creatures and whoever in to snuggle!

I love it! ;-)

Well done, it is lovely, and there is nothing, nothing like having a bed that really welcomes you.

Don't worry about sheets to come. Bargains will always be around.
Best wishes.

We have long had a 6ft wide bed - in fact we replaced the old one that wore out after 16+ years with a new version of the same, although ours is a boring zip-and-link divan (like two singles joined together) not a pretty 'hang an eiderdown over the bed end type like yours. Sheeting is a pain to find but check out Debenhams - they do I think SuperKing sized fitted sheets and if you're really lucky you can find them when they have a 70% off sale like I did

Lovely bed. We updated our old saggy duvan last Autumn to a cast iron framed one and it is (like yours) divine - now I hate getting out of bed - well even more so than normal.

I can relate to your excitement for your bed,as I just bought a lovely cream iron bedstead and 5ft mattress.Have been sleeping on a 4ft 6in for 19 years of marriage and it is sheer bliss to have the xtra space. The bedding always looks so lovely on this kind of bed, especially vintage,as yours does.Have you tried Dunelm Mill for bedding? Love your blog, from Bellaboo.

Oooh, it looks so cosy. Not much beats the excitement of a new bed. Eiderdown looks lovely at the end. Although you'll need new bedding, I think it might work out quite well as when I look in the sales, it's always the small or very large sizes that are left so hopefully you might pick up some bargains.
