Reasons to be cheerful

Some things just make you heart leap don't they and that's exactly what happened when I saw this most beautiful cushion cover in a charity shop close to work. I've had it since before we moved and I've been waiting and waiting for spring to get a move on and arrive so that I could whip it out to cheer up the conservatory.
And now that's it out on my vintage sofa (which is shamefully still in its battered state and I'm nowhere near getting around to covering), and is making me smile and smile and smile! Better even than a bunch of flowers, better than chocolate.
I absolutely love it but one thing is nagging me. Can you believe there were two and I only bought one! They were only £4 too. I must have temporarily have lost my mind but I do remember thinking that a pair might look a bit too much and if I left one perhaps someone else would love it as much as me.
Now of course I can see just how fabulous it would have looked on my bedroom chair, oh well. I'm enjoying my single one more than enough. Lovely, lovely lovely!

hey Steph, I love the cushion cover, it looks so pretty there on your vintage sofa, it would make me smile everytime I saw it also, especially right there with that amazing view in the background.

Yes it was me that bought the other one, and it does look lovely on my bedroom chair. Never knew there were two!
Now I'm just being cruel!
Lovely cushion. I know that thing where you hesitate and kick yourself later. But one is better that none, you might have left them both, to think about it and lost the two of them. And you don't want too much matching stuff!

Hi Steph, I can always count on your blog for some wonderful thrifty eye candy! Another great find. Just having one makes it all the more exclusive. Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Steph, I have a pair of similar cushion covers put away and thinking about them now, I probably would only put one out when I finally do! I think it would be too busy otherwise..your cushion is beautiful and what a bargain too, you'll have to alternate it between the sofa and bedroom chair! I love the flowers that look like lupins, didn't they use such pretty colours back then?

Hi Steph thanks for the info on Barley. I actually do have the Magic Apple Tree which I bought from Country Living a few years ago now. The whole thing inspired our move to the country actually and I wrote to Susan Hill and got a lovely reply at the time. I misunderstood what you said in that I thought the article was about Barley itself with photos etc. Never mind she describes it perfectly.

That is a truly beautiful cushion. Isn't it annoying when you don't buy something and think hmmm if only...... still, makes the one you do have more special
