So I was ruthless; chopped them all off at 6.30am this morning in a torrential downpour and they've made my weekend already. Fabulous - whatever the weather.

As i walk through the park on the school runs i have been quite sad at the roses and foxgloves laying damaged and brown tinged from all the rain...i think it has just got a bit too wet for the new flowering june flowers.
but i have never seen the park so green and lush- the tree's really have taken over and they do look so magnificent ;0)

Beautiful roses Steph. You did the right thing. I picked quite a few yesterday too as they were all drooping on the ground and I thought there's no way we'll get the chance anytime soon to sit out there and look at the roses so they might as well come in with us.

How absolutely gorgeous. The best I could come up with was dandelions. My four year old boy did pick one and give it to me with a kiss so I suppose that could be considered better than roses anyday.

that is remarkable. Today, husband and I suggested "what is English?" His immediate response was the music of Elgar, particularly Enigma Variations (with, of coure Nimrod) and my immediate response was "a medow filled with buttercups!"
