Aaah, that's better!

Wouldn't it be a good thing to get a week in Cornwall prescribed by your GP? It's made a world of difference to my little family let me tell you. We're a simple bunch. Nothing more complicated than sea, sand, pasties and ice cream required for the perfect week of r&r.

We spent many early hours and late evenings, taking in this lovely view from the sitting room window of our flat, just a stone's throw from the beach. We saw the fishmongers open up the fish cellars each morning and watched the daily clear up after the seagulls. Port Isaac is the perfect place to watch the world go by.
On sunny days the beach called. We rockpooled, fished for crabs and swam in the cold, cold sea.Watching my two chaps and their daddy have their first ever sea swims were special, magical moments. Its a long while since I swam in the sea and easing myself into the chilly waters at Readymoney Cove brought back fond, fond memories.

Back in the village, fish and chips eaten on the beach most nights was the perfect tea as the sun shone.
The rain did come. But not too often and the seaside has its own special charms on a dreary day.
But as soon as the sun peeped out again we were back to the beach and into the waves this time at Trebarwith Strand with its amazing rollers and giant sea caves.
And we ventured up to the cliff tops too, looking for sea birds and back to our most favourite hideaway.
And at the end of our days, (after following the silver band up the hill) we were back snuggled in our cosy bolthole, watching the world go by. Joyful days. We'll be back again, very soon.

Oh Steph, hat a delightful time, you have all had. Had a brief visit to Pt. Isaac in 2007, it was absolutely gorgeous and se stood in the shadows and watched an episode of Doc Martin being filmed. So sorry we couldn't stay for a few days but so many places to visit and so little time!
Beautiful photos, special memories and fish and chips on the beach too boot.

So glad you've all enjoyed your holiday. Port Isaac is such a beautiful place - even if the though of driving up and down those narrow, narrow roads scares me to death!

Very glad you had a lovely time Steph. I think your flat was above the pasty shop - they were very tasty eaten on the hill overlooking the little town. Lovely pics. Karen X

Just been checking in on your last few entries - what a pleasure. You posts are the quintessence of what England should be, really. It's fascinating comparing it to our (Scottish) version: term finished more than a month ago; we had a lovely holiday by the beach too, but in Orkney; and now we're having to think about getting ready for school starting again in a couple of weeks!

It looks lovely. My family comes from Cornwall and my great uncles art is housed in a gallery there.

You have a very good eye with the lens. Your photos are gorgeous.

Welcome back! I thought of you. I was wishing that I could send you a postcard saying just that - that I was thinking of you and hoping that you were having a wonderful, wonderful time - and, you did! =]

Hi Steph! Thank you for visiting my blog and for your lovely comments. They really made my day! And I am so pleased to have found your wonderful blog. I love England, and all things English, and I love Cornwall. Unfortunately it has been far too long since I last visited both your lovely country and Cornwall. But your inspiring post has made me want to come back again... soon. Just as I am sure I will return to your blog soon too.

Dear Steph, I have just come across your weblog via Madelief and am so pleased to have found you.

Your holiday in Cornwall sounds to have been idyllic. I do so agree that the simple pleasures in life are by far and away the best. It is, as you say, spending time together as a family rather than doing anything terribly sophisticated that is so rewardig and satisfying.

I shall sign up as a 'Follower' in order not to mss any future postings.
