Finds have been thin on the ground lately. Charity shops in particular have been pretty poor hunting grounds but in the past few weeks I've found a few lovely treasures, my favourite being this ramshackled old deckschair that I hauled home from the flea market for £3. I've wanted one for years but never found one so yesterday was a very happy one indeed.
It needs a new sling and I'm on the look our for some old style/new canvas if you know what I mean. I don't fancy anything too vibrant. These deliciously mellow colours with an atmosphere of sunny afternoons listening to the band in the park or ice cream on the prom are more what I'm looking for.
Looking forward to eating something delicious from these juicy bowls too. It'll have to be something old school like trifle or jelly and ice cream won't it. I've no idea how old they are or where they're from and I imagine there should have been a sixth but the four of us will enjoy squabbling over which colour we'd like. Perfect.
I want an old deckchair like that (or two) too but I've never seen one anywhere! It'll be great once you find the perfect fabric for it :)
Lovely! I really love the deckchair! If you feel like splurging on new fabric try...http://www.deckchairstripes.com/
Enjoy your new finds! Cx
Your deck chair was a real find and I love the bowls too.
Ooh your deckchair, what a gorgeous find. I found a vintage one recently but they wanted £30 for it and although I really wanted it there was no way I would pay that so I am abit envious (in a nice way) at your wonderful bargain X
What a bargain - can only dream of something like that!!
Bowls are lovely - enjoy your jelly and icecream ;)
Being a Stokie Blackpool was our holiday place when we were little but I love St Annes in the last few years. It suited my daughter and my parents and us too!
Happy memories, I hope you find the right canvas covering.
Great finds! I especially love those bowls. Trifle definitely belongs in them! =-)
Love those old deckchairs .... I too was going to recommend Deckchair Stripes .... I just re-vamped my grandparents old directors chairs with some of their fabric (photo on my blog) x
What fabulous finds. Just had to let you know how great your containers of plant and bulbs look!
£3 for a deckchair?! Bargain. Well done you. Love the coloured bowl also. I can imagine lashings of ice cream and jelly in them.
Your deckchair was a fabulous bargain, and your pots look so pretty too!
Have a lovely weekend!
Love love love the bowls!! Ice cream with berries!!
Hi Steph! Your latest treasures are really nice! I especially adore the deckchair. The striped fabric is perfect.Funny thing...it's exactly what I was thinking about yesterday in my garden. How I'l love to have a vintage deckchair just like yours so I can soak up all the sun I can get!
Wish me luck!
Enjoy yours as much as possible!
Lovely finds. Love the bowls
Love your finds! My aunt has promised me her old deckchair and, like you, I want to find some nice canvas to replace the old one. Will be interested to see how you go about putting it on,as I've never done it before.
Wow! Small world.... I also grew up in Lytham, my parents still live there! The teatowel is fab.
What a bargain your deckchair was £3...thats unbelievable, that would have been my bargain of the year!
I love your chair - but not being able to find a lovely old vintage one like yours, I bought one from Sainsburys last summer and it'a almost the real thing. Made of wood it even had a mention in Country Homes mag! might go back this year for another one! Enjoy!!
Hello! What a fun vintage deckchair and a snip at only a few £'s. Your purchases are always so much cheaper than I could hope to find up here in Scotland. Anyway, you will find proper deckchair stripey fabric at www.re-foundobjects.com but it will take time to fade. You could also use good upholstery fabric but you'd have to sew seams up the sides. Looking forward to seeing how it ends up and whatever you do, you'll do with your usual lovely style.
The bowls would be perfect for Eaton Mess. To have while sitting in your deck chair on a lovely sunny day.
Love the bowls - the colours are so vibrant - beautiful!
I agree about charity shop finds being few and far between. Perhaps people are holding onto their things or selling them rather than donating if they are finding it hard to manage their finances.
Our deckchairs belonged to my parents, could do with some nice new canvas so will have a look at the link Catherine kindly posted above.
At my parents house there are two deck chairs that
that have stood the test of time being recovered and painted. I have two myself which I had from Woolworths some years ago. We always have a giggle
( what I should say is there is a giggle when I attempt
to put one up). Does anyone else have this trouble?
One has come out today, dare I sit in it? Heres to warm sunny days in the garden.
That deck chair brought back happy childhood memories of holidays as a family.
Lovely, lovely chair at a great price. Will be very interested to see its transformation with new canvas.
I have two of my own that need some tlc, and was trying to work out how I would do it today.
Thank you for your lovely comment on my dress-for-a-wedding!
The deck chair is so cute, it reminds me of when I was growing up and spending summer holidays at the seaside, and I absolutely love the bowls!
I always love to read your blog, Steph. Your current bargains are delicious - very envious about the deckchair!
There's a stall in the Buttermarket in Leek selling fabric. Last Wednesday he had some canvas material in very similar colours to the fabric currently on your new deckchair.
Love the deckchair you were very lucky to find one - the bowls I agree would be lovely for jelly and icecream.
have a lovely week.
Absolutely gorgeous deckchair! What a fantastic find! :) x
Just found your blog, really enjoying it!
Hi - another lovely post, thankyou.
It was interesting to hear Woody grew up in Lytham St Annes as my hubby did too and I myself lived there for a few years. Had to smile at the Blackpool memorabilia! xx
I love your deckchair.....if you want new fabric try http://www.daysgonebydeckchairs.com
