Now I know summer is supposed to rocket back in later this week and bring us the sort of temperatures we haven't seen around here since April, but that's a blip as far as I'm concerned. There is a bowl full of conkers on the kitchen table, asters in a jug on the mantelpiece and I've cooked a crumble already.
All this means that it is most definitely autumn and therefore perfectly fine to wear my pumpkin coloured cardigan. So I have. With my new frock. Both fairly recent charity shop finds (cardi = Per Una, dress = Florence & Fred at Tesco), I've been waiting and waiting for the temperature to drop so that I can team these two with my faithful brown boots and some delicious looking, rusty orange tights I found in New Look last week.
Oh I do like wearing frocks with tights and boots. There is a cosiness to this sort of outfit that I can't describe. I am just so much more comfortable in this attire than thin summery skirts and things with short sleeves.
So I will succumb to the sunshine later in the week and wear something light and airy, but inside I shall be railing and wishing for a nip in the air.
Have a lovely week. First recipe added to the home cooking page at last. More to follow soon!

It looks great! I love frocks/tights and boots too but I can never find nice boots that fit :( Must try harder!
We had our first crumble a couple of weeks ago - pear and chocolate - and we've had the fire lit a few times lately too! It certainly has been chilly around these parts!
Lovely outfit i love the colours and im a huge fan of cozy cardis too x
you are beautiful steph- the outfit is truly lovely!!...like the idea of your recipes page ;0)
enjoy your sunday with your sweet family x
Oh I am desperate for the cold weather! I love your outfit. it is perfect for autumn!
Our charity shops are hopeless around here! I think maybe the savvy students get in first and take all the good stuff.
Hopefully we will get a little autumn before the expected snow starts, next month!!! x
Hola Curlew,tu blog es mi principal inspiración.Me encánta tu estilo en la ropa y es muy parecido al mio.Me alegro de conocer tu blog.Saludos de Sara.
Hi Steph,
Why do you make me feel so happy? I always feel so cosy when reading your blog. Thank you for reinforcing what I've always known really that things don't have to cost a fortune to look and feel good! Love you and your blog.
Julie xx
Dresses and boots and loely coloured tights :)
You are so lucky - you find some fabby things - I cant seem to spot anything nice like that - ooh off to check out your recipe xx
The outfit looks great.i love the rusty colours that are around this autumn.
You do look good. I can never be comfortable in anything other than trousers but I never find anything to suit or fit in charity shops.
I agree, dresses/wooly tights/boots are a lovely combo. Enough to part me from my beloved jeans now and again! Have to be the right materials though, or I get static issues!!
I also agree with a previous commenter, your blog does have the most amazing cosy feel...
Bxx
Hi Steph,
Love your outfit. Perfect for such a beautiful sunny day as today :-)!
Wish you a lovely new week,
Madelief x
Love autumn clothes - the best time of the year to get dressed! Love your outfit - & so clever of you to find such lovely things in a charity shop x
Love the cardy! I'm very lucky to have a charity shop which sells ladies tops from 50p to £2 and have managed to pick up some lovely cardies too. I have three pairs of boots, black, brown and red, and at least thirty pairs of tights, in an array of colours, waiting to be matched with my numerous skirts and dresses.
I love Autumn!
Your outfit looks fab, the cardi is a lovely shade. I found a couple of brilliant skirts at the charity shop recently, I love a pretty bargain!
There is no fear of cash parting hands when I go window shopping in everyday clothes shops. This is due to a predominance of a colour that I and my daughter call 'cat sick' (sorry!) It is such a vile pinkie peachy beigey colour that the only thing to do is leave the shop in a hurry.
I am shocked by how much there is in charity shops. A lot of my nicest stuff comes from them. Yet years ago when my trendy sister used to use them, I used to turn my nose up. Not anymore though. It's a treasure trove and causes me great excitement.
I love your ensemble, it looks great on you - I love how you wear them. Summer is not my favourite season either but I like Spring the most I think. I love autumn too though.
I am on a cardie hunt myself, but I haven't found exactly what I want. I have found two nice ones recently though.
Lovely finds Steph! Most of my clothes and the kids clothes are from Oxfam which, luckily for us, is a treasure trove of nice stuff. I love the way you put your outfit together - very stylish.
Also love the new homecooking page!
I love my boots with full skirts and the pumpkin orange sweater and dress combo is stunning... xx
Really love your outfit, looks very comfortable and of course is so pretty. Blessings Niki x

Gorgeous! Love the colour combo's.Oh for a slim waist like yours and to be able to slip into a pretty dress! Elasticated waists is more my style at the mo. :0)
Lovely outfit Steph, i have a dress very similar to that which i won on ebay recently, i've been after some tights to match so i'll check in New Look next time i'm in town, thanks! Autumn is my favourite season for clothes, love the rich colours and dress, tights and boots are my favourtie combo :) Take care, Kate xx
What a lovely outfit! Where can I find your home cooking page? Sorry for asking but I cannot find it. Kindest regards
